As Houston’s Education Station, KHOU 11 launched this initiative to help address the local literacy crisis by providing children with access to books outside the classroom. Research shows that children who do not read at grade level by the end of third grade face significantly greater challenges throughout their educational journey, while many low-income families have limited access to books at home.

One Pet One Vet: Kicking Off a New Chapter of Giving

Mac Haik Chevrolet proudly launched its latest Community Outreach initiative with a powerful first step—partnering with 100.3 The Bull and One Pet One Vet, an organization dedicated to supporting veterans by transforming their own dogs into fully trained service animals. Each service dog costs approximately $5,000 to train and learns life-changing skills like opening doors, flushing toilets, and responding to PTSD-related episodes. Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of our community, we raised $169,449.67, helping dozens of veterans gain greater independence, comfort, and healing through the companionship of their loyal pets. This impactful event marked the beginning of a renewed commitment to serve those who’ve served us.

Bikes & Badges: Pedaling Joy into the Holidays

Since 2020, the annual Bikes & Badges event has brought the spirit of giving to life by providing children across Houston with the simple joy of a new bike. Mac Haik Chevrolet, in partnership with local law enforcement, proudly gave away 500 bikes to kids in need—many receiving their very first set of wheels. The event created unforgettable moments for families, filled with smiles, laughter, and gratitude. For many children, it was more than just a bike—it was a symbol of hope and happiness. Thanks to the generosity of our community, each donation helped brighten the holidays and reminded us all of the power of giving back.

July 4th Card Drive: A Million Thanks

In a heartfelt salute to our heroes, Mac Haik Chevy Cares partnered with The Bull to launch a patriotic campaign with a powerful goal: collect 10,000 thank-you cards for service members at home and abroad in time for Independence Day. The community showed up in full force—shattering expectations and helping us gather an incredible 71,438 cards. Each one a small gesture of gratitude, together they represent a massive wave of appreciation for the more than one million active-duty troops serving our nation. This overwhelming response proves that patriotism is alive and well—and that a simple "thank you" still goes a long way.

Teaming Up with the Missouri City Raiders

Mac Haik Chevy Cares was honored to support the Missouri City Raiders youth football team throughout their season, standing alongside this incredible organization every step of the way. Mac Haik Chevy Cares proudly partnered with Sleep in Heavenly Peace to bring comfort and dignity to children in need by constructing 100 beds for local families in Houston. What began as a day of teamwork and service turned into something much more meaningful. After building the beds, our volunteers formed delivery teams to personally transport and assemble each one in the homes of the children receiving them. From hammering the first nail to placing the final pillow, every step was filled with care and compassion. These weren’t just beds—they were safe spaces where kids could dream, rest, and grow. Mac Haik Chevy Cares proudly partnered with MD Anderson for the 9th annual Boot Walk to End Cancer, joining thousands across the country in a united step toward hope. This family-friendly 1.2-mile walk supported MD Anderson’s mission to end cancer, with 100% of participant-raised funds going directly to patient care, research, education, and prevention programs. From cowboy to combat boots, walkers of all ages laced up and hit the pavement—whether in the Texas Medical Center or in their own neighborhoods. With no registration fee and the full support of MD Anderson’s fundraising tools, the event empowered individuals and families to make a difference. Together, we walked with purpose, strength, and heart—because every step gets us closer to a cancer-free future.
